| Uluwatu Kecak Dance Show |
I always want to watch Kecak Dance show. Kecak Dance is one of the most popular Balinese dance. It’s played by about 70 man. It’s not using any musical instrument but acompaned by some hymn from the performers’s voice. Watching Kecak Dance is becaming one of my top list when I visit Bali someday. And it happened. My boss told me one of things I should do in Bali is watching Kecak Dance and the best performance and place to watch Kecak Dance show is in Uluwatu Temple. Uluwatu Temple located in Jalan Raya Uluwatu, Pecatu, Kuta. If we look at the Bali map, Uluwatu is located in south Bali island. It’s about one hour driving from Denpasar.
Uluwatu temple is built on top of the cliff in Uluwatu so if you visit Uluwatu temple someday, you’ll get a breathtaking view of Hindia Ocean’s wave hitting the cliff. Visiting Uluwatu Temple you’ll get some experience like walking around monkey forest, seeing sun set (it’s one of the best spot to see sunset!) and watching Kecak Dance. Uluwatu kecak dance will be started at 18.00 WITA - 19.00 WITA so we can watch the sunset.
If you plan to watch Kecak Dance, i suggest you to buy the ticket online because it’s cheaper than buying on the spot, and you’ll free from queuing. One online ticket costs Rp 85.000 each person (you can purchase it on www.uluwatukecakdance.com). But if you want to buy the ticket on the spot, it’ll cost Rp 100.000 each person. The ticket counter will be opened at 17.00 WITA so you should prepare yourself to wait around the counter because you’ll compete with a lot of people. Luckily, if you’ve ordered online ticket before there will be one counter special for online ticket.
I also suggest you to queue early (at least at 17.00 WITA you should be in the ticket counter) because there isn’t chair number in the ticket so if you want to get best spot, you should be there early. The building of Kecak dance show is like amphiteater and it’s facing the Hindian Ocean. I recomend you to sit in the center. Oh ya I almost forgot, after you purchase the ticket you’ll a paper of the storyline. Kecak dance is potraying the story of Ramayana epic, it’s one of Hinduism epic. The story is about how Sri Rama (prince of Ayodya Kingdom) tries to save his princess (Dewi Sita) whom kidnapped by the cruel king from Alengka Pura Kingdom.
The show is really epic. The Hinduism beliefs is potrayed well and it’s makes me goosebump. I love how the man singing the hymn and it’s really good show. It’s also funny because of the action of Hanoman (you can find who is he in google) because he is really active jumping from a side to another side and really attractive. It makes the show funny. The show was becoming more awesome because of the sky of sunset. The sky is suuuuppeerrr pretty ( I swear it’s the most pretty sky of sunset i’ve ever seen).
Once again, if you visit Bali, you should watch Uluwatu Kecak Dance. I swear you won’t get dissapointed yet you’ll be glad and thakful you’ve watched the show.
